Eglinton Detachment
Opened its doors to the teenagers of Eglinton in September 2001.

SSI Linda Rutherford
Joined the ACF as an adult instructor after volunteering her services to give some help with the tuck shop at Clondermot Detachment. In her own words "I am really glad I decided to take the jump and join fully as an adult instructor, it has given me great confidence in my own ability to do many things I would never would thought possible for me to do"
SSI (S/Sgt) Linda Rutherford took up the post of Detachment Commander when the detachment was relaocated to Eglinton Village, so with a lot of enthusasiam and not so much experience she got stuck in. With much more experience under her belt now she knows what is all about being a detachment commander and being responsible for so many teenagers. Ever since the detachment started in September 2001 we have progressed further and further each year, starting with a group of 14 cadets on the first evening we have maintained a strenght of no fewer than 22 cadets at any one time. Cadets turn up each Wednesday evening and take part in a programme designed to give all the cadets as much training and fun as we can. Winters evenings we all settle down in the school to learn all parts of the syllabus and as soon as the light evenings come we get the chance to put all the skills learnt over the winter into practice.
