The Army Cadet Force is a youth organisation sponsored by the Army which provides challenging military, adventurous, sporting and community activities. It aims to inspire young people to achieve success in life with a spirit of service and to develop them in the qualities required of a good citizen.
What we are not!
We are not a recruiting organisation for
the Armed Forces so you do NOT
have to join the services at anytime
unless you wish to do so.
The Motto of the Army Cadet Force
"To Inspire to Achieve"
The Children's Order
All aspects of the ACF is guided by the Children's Order and is applied at all levels throughout the organisation, with all adult leaders trained in the guidlines of the Order
It All Starts Here!
Cadet training is structured to encourage young people
to get the best out of themselves by learning leadership,
self discipline, team work and to
make them better citizens within our local community
We acheive this by setting a syllabus which
will allow cadets to take part in not only in military type training
but other types of training geared towards young people of today.
The Army Cadet Force uses a system of stars
to show progression and achievement of the cadets within the ACF.
Cadets who pass each part of the syllabus move onto the
next and the Star Badge which is worn on
the brassard as part of the uniform
The syllabus contains the following subjects:
All of these subjects are taught at different levels, so as you progress you learn new skills.
Drill & Turnout
Drill is taught as the basis of teamwork and discipline where cadets learn to work and drill as a squad,
they learn to receive instructions and work on them. It is taught in a relaxed but formal
manner with the more senior cadets getting the chance to call out the words of command.
All cadets are shown how to look after themselves and their uniform to
ensure that it is clean and tidy and they present themselves with
pride in themselves and the uniform each time they wear it.
